JOB AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT
There are many opportunities within the Mining program to develop your career. The department has an employment liaison that works to help students connect with employers when seeking summer and/or full time employment. Students that are interested can come in for specific guidance on job hunting, resume writing and interview skills as it applies to their strengths and goals. The department works hard to help students secure positions and each year mining companies throughout Canada visit the Department for interviews and recruiting.
The Queen’s University Internship Program, a 12-16 month off-campus work term, is also available to students after their third year of studies, and every year more mining companies are becoming interested in participating. The internship program produces graduates that have at least a year of experience and as such are much more marketable and attractive to potential employers after graduation.
